YWCA McLean County invites you to honor the past and imagine the future by participating in Generations of Women on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Illinois State University Alumni Center at 511 N. Main St in Normal. Gathering all ages of women together, this uplifting and empowering event will build and strengthen relationships, allowing a deeper understanding of each other as we celebrate the importance of family and friends. Attendees will explore what family means through family friendly workshops including arts, crafts and jewelry making. Plan to join YWCA and catering sponsor Evergreen Senior Living for a delicious lunch and an afternoon worthy of celebrating the unique traditions and relationships of all generations of women. This event is open to ALL generations of women (mothers, daughters, grandmothers, sisters, friends, nieces, aunts, cousins, etc.) and is appropriate for any child over the age of 5.
Generations of Women will feature keynote speaker Mia Smith. Mia is head coach of the Illinois Wesleyan University Women’s Basketball team and will share an incredibly inspirational story of what friends and family meant to her during a very trying time in her life. Mia battled breast cancer while leading her team to victory in the spring 2012 Women’s Basketball championship game.
The cost to participate is $50.00 per adult and $25.00 per child (ages 5-12) and includes lunch, 2 workshops and a keynote speech. All proceeds benefit the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program at YWCA McLean County. To register to participate, visit www.ywcamclean.org/generations or call 309-662-0461 by April 15, 2013.
