Ralph Morgan of Normal has received the Volunteer of the Year Award from the East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging that celebrated its 40th anniversary with a recent lunch and awards ceremony at the Illinois State University Alumni Center.
Awards were presented by Corporate Board chairwoman Elsie Jane Jackson, age 97, of Paris.
Morgan was recognized for serving older adults in his community for many years in many ways, including as counselor for the Senior Health Insurance Program. Since 2003, Morgan reported 9,743 hours of counseling on behalf of 2,000 Medicare beneficiaries.
He also devotes 75 hours monthly as a volunteer with the pharmacy and other departments at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, as well as the Bloomington Center for Performing Arts, Habitat for Humanity and the VITA Tax Assistance Program.
He was nominated by Julie Navickas, Director of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program sponsored by YWCA of McLean County.
